The old saying, "demand quality, not just in the products you buy, but in the life of the person who made it", has always stuck with us.
All of our suits are ethically made in Sydney, Australia by a local, family-owned business. All of our accessories and apparel are produced by the women at The Blessed Project in the Philippines.
The Blessed Project was created to rehabilitate young women who have been rescued from human trafficking.
One aspect of their rehabilitation is learning the skill of sewing. Trainees will learn this trade as a form of therapy, an opportunity to learn a practical skill and provide the ability to earn income for themselves.
Ezra
Ezra (name changed for privacy) was 11 years old when she was pimped in exchange for money and food. Her mother, whom she solely relied on to look after her, was charged with a drug-related case and was imprisoned for it.
She was brought to the Blessed Project along with her siblings, as it is the only institution that caters to the needs of both the survivors and their families. She is now in Grade 12 and is so dedicated to studying that she consistently gets awards. She works part-time at the Blessed Sewing to help provide for her needs.
Phnom Phen, Cambodia ~
Empowering women at risk or rescued
from Human Trafficking.
STORY collaborates with Morijana, an ethical fashion brand which empowers vulnerable women and creates income to support the ‘Wellspring Initiative’ work in the rubbish dump slums of Phnom Penh.
Currently Wellspring has two Khmer social worker staff who work in the slum communities in Phnom Penh. They provide education, hygiene information, play therapy and support to the children; and build strong relationships with the families to give support and gauge their needs.
The initiative in turn creates a network to find suitable women in need, to work for Morijana.
